World Language
in one of the most celebrated world language programs in the city Darwin School has sent students to Italy and
Chile. Last year we received a group of students from Santiago, Chile.
A group of 8 Chilean students and two teachers were here for ten days visiting Darwin
School and the city of Chicago. Click here for pictures of their performance.
The young ladies are from El Vergel School in Santiago, Chile. They arrived and performed typi-
cal Chilean dances for 3rd through 7th grade. They also performed as part of a video teleconference
for their parents via web broadcasted from the Darwin Library to their school in Chile.
Activities were scheduled for the girls everyday. They visited the Shed Aquarium, the Field Museum, Museum of Science and Industry.
They also visited both Lincoln Park and Brookfield Zoo.
Many of the trips took place during Courage, Opportunity, and Responsibility the week and with the 7th grade. The 8th
graders were at their end of the year trip.
The girls had a blast! Unfortunately all good things come to a close and the girls, along with their very nice two teachers,
embark today for their home country.
The relationship between Darwin School and El Vergel originated from Mrs. Shelley, Sister Cities and the World Language department.
